Buzzing for the Future

In our recent blog, we celebrated the success of selling our honey at local markets, though we also touched on this season's lower production due to our focus on growing more bee colonies.

To secure a better honey harvest in the future, we’ve recently expanded our beekeeping operation by investing in more beehives. While scrolling through social media, we stumbled upon a post offering hives for sale. After reaching out, we connected with Phil, who explained he was selling his bees and hives due to a severe reaction from a sting.

We purchased 10 hives from Phil, allowing us to expand our bee colonies and boost honey production for next year. Phil was very sad to see his bees leave and it was clear to see by his efforts he had cared very much but mentioned he was glad the where going to a good home.

As we head into the 2025 season, our focus will remain on growing our colonies. In the spring, we plan to create more colony splits, which will strengthen our bee population. However, we expect the bulk of our honey harvest to come later in the year, giving the bees enough time after the splits to gather resources and become strong colonies ready for winter.

After a very wet day when moving the bees they are currently in based on our site with a temporary location and will be relocated to anew apiary before spring and the beekeeping season starts.

Next year, we’ll share blog posts, videos, and pictures documenting this process, and we might even launch a YouTube channel to give you an inside look at our beekeeping journey.

In addition, we have some exciting new beeswax products and scents in the works, so stay tuned for our next blog!
